ScootSmarter
E-scooters are easy to buy and illegal to ride on public roads. ScootSmarter clears up the confusion for riders and parents with a ten-minute chaptered film and the print and digital assets to promote it.
What it is
The film covers the law, maintenance, protective equipment and riding skills, in chapters you can bookmark and link to by QR code. It is built for road safety teams, local authorities and blue light services, whether the aim is to inform parents before a purchase or deter riders from prosecution and confiscation.
Promotional assets - posters, postcards and luggage-tag QR codes - make it easy to push the film in public spaces and online. Embed it on your site or hand it out; the choice is yours.
The 2026 edition reflects the extended trial areas and current enforcement position.

Evaluated against a control film
Participants showed statistically significant improvements in knowledge of UK e-scooter rules, particularly where e-scooters can legally be used, with rule-based gains largely sustained at follow-up. ScootSmarter was rated significantly more engaging than a comparable road safety film. As the evaluation notes, information alone does not shift attitudes or intentions, so it works best alongside reinforcement and wider interventions. Highly Commended by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation.
