Evidence-led road safety in South Gloucestershire
Real-world collaboration and shared learning are at the heart of the Co-Pilot Vision Zero Toolbox & Community - and this month we’re recognising one of its most active contributors.
We’re continuing our Vision Zero Voices series with Dave Adams, Road Safety Technician - Collision Investigation & Prevention at South Gloucestershire Council, who is currently the top-ranking member of the Community.
We asked Dave what he finds most rewarding about being a member, and this is what he had to say:
"Being part of the Co-Pilot Vision Zero Community has had a direct and positive impact on my work within South Gloucestershire Council. My role spans collision investigation and prevention work as well as the delivery of adult road safety education, publicity and training. The resources within the Vision Zero Toolkit continually strengthen the quality and effectiveness of what I do.
"The masterclasses have become an essential part of our team’s professional development. I actively encourage colleagues to watch them because they provide clear, practical insight that we can immediately apply to our local challenges. The Toolkit itself gives us access to evidence-based approaches, evaluated tools and expert guidance, helping ensure our work is both robust and aligned with best practice across the sector.
"One of the most valuable aspects of the Community is the openness with which members share their experiences. Hearing what has worked well elsewhere - and equally what has not - helps all of us avoid pitfalls and build on proven ideas. With the combined expertise and willingness to collaborate across the Community, the challenges we face in reducing road harm become not only more manageable, but far more rewarding to tackle together."
