Sussex Police continue collaborative approach to tackling road harm

Sussex Police have renewed their membership with the Co-Pilot Vision Zero Community and Toolbox for another year, continuing their collaborative approach to reducing death and serious injury on the county’s roads.

Co-Pilot combines a national professional community with a shared toolbox of evidence-led interventions, supporting organisations to apply the Safe System approach in practice. Together, these enable police forces, local authorities, safer roads partnerships and businesses to collaborate, share insight and access practical tools to reduce road harm.

By renewing their full membership, Sussex Police remain an active part of a growing national network committed to tackling road danger through long-term, evidence-led collaboration, rather than short-term or isolated interventions.

Mark Baker, Sussex Police Road Safety Team Manager, said: “Road safety is a shared responsibility. By continuing to work in collaboration with other organisations and road safety professionals we look to combine expertise, resources and efforts to create safer roads for all, including our communities in Sussex.”

The Vision Zero Community provides a rare national space for professionals with a shared ambition to connect, learn and work together. The platform offers an important forum for sharing learning, staying ahead of emerging challenges and contributing to national thinking. Working in collaboration with other road safety organisations helps ensure that residents of Sussex continue to receive the best road safety advice and support through strategic collaboration.

Alongside this, the Vision Zero Toolbox gives members access to practical, ready-to-use interventions and resources, helping organisations translate Vision Zero principles into action on the ground.

James Evans, Founder and CEO of Co-Pilot, said: “Sussex Police renewing their full membership demonstrates real leadership and consistency in road safety. Continued collaboration, backed by shared tools and evidence, helps strengthen learning and maintain momentum at a time when collective action across the system is more important than ever.”

Membership enables organisations to share practical tools, exchange learning, influence national messaging and strengthen delivery, while raising their profile within the road safety sector. Find out more at www.co-pilot.org.
